🌐 Network Requirements
The Clover Compact can connect via:

Network Setup Tips:

The device must connect directly to the internet (no TLS proxies).

Use a dedicated subnet for terminal devices with DHCP or static IPs.

For Wi-Fi, use a secure WPA2 network with a strong password.

Restrict Wi-Fi access by MAC or IP if desired for added security.

⚙️ Initial Setup

Unbox and assemble the device.

Connect the power adapter to a grounded outlet.

The device powers on automatically.

Follow the on-screen prompts to select:

Time Zone

Network (Ethernet or Wi-Fi)

Install the paper roll if prompted:

Open the printer compartment.

Insert roll with paper feeding under and out.

The device may automatically download any required software updates.
Once updates are complete, the device will boot into the Clover home screen, and you're ready to begin using the terminal.

All payments are processed through Clover’s secure platform and will appear in the Clover Dashboard for reporting.
🛠️ Daily Use
To run a sale:

Open the Sale app on the home screen.

Enter the amount or add items (if inventory is configured).
-
Tap Charge.
-
Allow the customer to pay using swipe, chip, or tap.
-
Choose to print, email, or text the receipt.
🔄 Refunds, Voids & Reports
Access these through the Transactions app:

Refund a transaction by locating it, selecting it, and choosing Refund.
-
Void a transaction before batch close (if supported).
-
View daily batch totals, open/closed batches, and transaction history.
🔌 Optional Tethering (PIN Pad Setup)
You can use a second Clover Compact as a customer-facing PIN pad:

Requires a Clover Compact Tether Cable (sold separately).

One terminal acts as merchant-facing, the other as customer-facing.
-
Designed for retail counters, grocery, and EBT acceptance setups.
Note: Customer-facing devices used for PIN entry do not process transactions and may not be billed if designated as tethered.
