Manual entry of card information (no swipe or dip).
-
To manually enter a card on the Verifone VX520, follow these steps:
-
Press the “Sale” Button:
- On the home screen, press the “Sale” button, or select “1” for Sale if the terminal menu appears.
-
Enter the Sale Amount:
- Use the keypad to type in the transaction amount and press “Enter.”
-
Manually Enter Card Information:
- When prompted to swipe the card, instead type in the card number using the keypad, then press “Enter.”
-
Enter the Expiration Date:
- Input the card’s expiration date in the format MMYY (e.g., “0525” for May 2025) and press “Enter.”
-
Provide CVV and ZIP Code if Prompted:
- Some merchants require the CVV (the 3-digit code on the back of the card) and the ZIP code associated with the card. Enter these as prompted and press “Enter” after each.
-
Complete the Transaction:
- Once the information is entered, the terminal will process the payment. If approved, it will print a receipt for both the merchant and the customer.
This manual entry process can be used if a card can’t be swiped or inserted. Remember, manual entries typically have higher processing fees and are more prone to fraud, so only use them when necessary.
